Voice by Jina Wallwork
My voice is lost to me. Afraid to speak I seek the courage to find release. Filled with doubt I question my words and how they link together. Each word has a relationship with every other part of the sentence. Are those connections strong and harmonious, or are they in conflict? Do my words speak with one voice or do they argue among themselves?
Language contains many secrets that are waiting to be understood. As I seek further knowledge, I find more questions and puzzles. I find it necessary to enter a place of silence where each word can be questioned and each sentence analyzed. I look at these sentences and I question if they are ready to take the stage. I’ve tried to prepare them. I gave each word permission to play among the trees and dance across the grass. The wind listened without judgment and all of nature accepted their presence. Nature listened to every word that was spoken and it gave me the courage to let them go. There are always moments of doubt, but it gives us the opportunity to consider our words before we show them to the world.
